Hosted and run by one of the UK’s biggest bridal magazines, we were shortlisted down to the top 5 after an initial public vote. Each category was then scrutinised over by 10 industry judges and the winners were announced at the awards ceremony in London on Friday.

We were up against some big competitors – including one with Dragons’ Den investment – but the judges commended our style, ethos and customer service.

We’re very proud to have won our second national award which gives us the confidence in knowing that we’re still offering the UK’s best wedding videography.

Three years ago we set up Ido from our bedrooms at university. Since that special day we’ve preserved more couple’s memories than we can count on all our fingers (and toes), won numerous awards and moved into our own studio in Bristol.

It’s been an exciting three years to say the least. We’ve seen an owl deliver the rings, the best man’s trousers split on a rodeo bull, a giant Easter egg ‘cake’ and some pretty awesome first dances.

Martin and Heidi Shubrook said the footage returned by calamitous cameraman Clayton Bennett was ‘useless’.

He’d failed to record the couple signing the register, cutting the cake, most of the speeches, the bride and groom’s entrance at the reception and the confetti throwing.

What they were given was a video featuring shots of guests’ feet and backs, and footage taken from too far away to make out faces.
Now the couple have won a court battle against Bennett, who has declared himself bankrupt.

Mrs Shubrook, 29, said: ‘I was in tears watching it back.

‘He turned up to our wedding with scars all over his face and said he was a cage fighter. He looked a mess.

‘During the day he went missing and we found him at another wedding,’ added the primary school teacher.

Mr Shubrook, 34, said: ‘Clayton Bennett was utterly unprofessional.

‘What we did get was poorly filmed. The angles were wonky and the framing bad, and he allowed subjects to move out of shot.
‘For part of it, the camera was left on the floor so half of the shot was grass and people’s heads were cut off. He even managed to include people who were not part of the wedding.’

Bennett was trading at the time as Lasting Impressions video and photography services of Sunderland.
He was paid £350 to video their wedding in July 2009.

After seeing the result, the couple started a yearlong battle to bring the cameraman, later trading as We Photograph Your Wedding, to the Small Claims Court for breach of contract.

A judge sitting at Durham County Court found in the Shubrooks’ favour and ordered Bennett to pay a total of £600, including a £150 refund to the couple, court costs and expenses.

The photographer, of Howden, Co Durham, said he has ceased trading and has agreed to pay back the money in £20 instalments, although the couple say they haven’t received a penny.

Bennett said: ‘The Shubrooks expected the money they paid to buy them an awful lot.’

We constantly tell interested couples you ‘you get what you pay for’, and sure enough, £350 doesn’t get very much! What we find equally disturbing is that the Metro have somehow confused photographer with videographer. I’m sure our photographic counterparts will be as annoyed as us to see our two fields merged.

It’s cleaner, easier to navigate and features a brand new samples section (which we’re still uploading plenty of gorgeous videos to).

We hope you like it and we’d love to hear what you think of it!

But despite the cold weather and travel-disrupting conditions, we have had a few gorgeous snow weddings. And although the couples probably didn’t appreciated the disruption at the time, I’m sure they’ll look back on their day as well as their photos and wedding video and appreciate those little twinkly snowflakes.

It’s been a hectic month with lots of weddings – which means lots of tapes to import (I’ve got 12 to do today!) and lots of editing to complete. One of our last weddings was pretty epic: an Asian wedding at the Hilton Waldorf, London which saw me on my feet for 16 hours. Meanwhile Adam had a nice and easy wedding in Bristol. Not sure how that happened.

Anyway, once August’s over we should have some more time for blog posts and general site updates!

Although only the bride was Jewish, a Rabbi conducted a second ceremony after the registrars, complete with Hebrew blessings and the smashing of the glass.

Fast-forward a few hours and a live band played during the 20-minute ring and chair dances at the start of the wedding breakfast to create a truly amazing atmosphere.

A total mix of cultures and traditions, the day was a great insight for us into Jewish wedding ceremonies – and it’s just made us want to film another one!
