Turn on and tune in!
Ido Wedding Films are going to be featured on BBC Radio Bristol’s Graham Torrington show tomorrow morning at 11.30am. As part of their Workplace of the Day feature, we were asked various questions about us and our business.
We were also asked to request a song – unfortunately our showreel piece You’ve Got The Love by Florence and the Machine wasn’t on their playlist so we had to settle for the most popular wedding song to date: Greatest Day by Take That.
You can hear our short 3 minute interview tomorrow at 11.30am on BBC Radio Bristol, 94.9FM, DAB and online. Or if it’s easier, you can check back here tomorrow for a recording of it!
We’re two years old!
Slightly more than two years ago, me (Russell) and Adam were sat in Adam’s bedroom at university devising our next steps. And two years ago this month, Ido Wedding Films (as we’d chosen to be called) filmed its first wedding – for a friend’s cousin, for free, and with borrowed equipment from university.
Two years, two awards and lots of hard work later, we’re going stronger than ever and producing wedding videos we’re proud of.
To celebrate our second birthday, we’re offering two free optional extras with all bookings made in the next two months*.
That means you can save up to two-hundred pounds by getting any two of the following absolutely free:
- Blu-ray Disc
- HD Stills
- Guest Messages
- Video Diary Room
- Evening Entertainment Coverage**
Please feel free to visit our website and watch our showreel, download our brochure or request a sample DVD.
We look forward to hearing from you soon!
Kind regards,
Russell Jones
* Offer ends 13 July 2010. ** Evening Entertainment Coverage can only be offered if the First Dance is bought.
Jewish Wedding Videography
Much to our pleasure we had the chance to film a wedding on Monday with Jewish elements.
Although only the bride was Jewish, a Rabbi conducted a second ceremony after the registrars, complete with Hebrew blessings and the smashing of the glass.
Fast-forward a few hours and a live band played during the 20-minute ring and chair dances at the start of the wedding breakfast to create a truly amazing atmosphere.
A total mix of cultures and traditions, the day was a great insight for us into Jewish wedding ceremonies – and it’s just made us want to film another one!
If you’re looking for a Jewish wedding video then get in contact with us: we’d be delighted to help! And keep an eye on our sample clips page as we’ll most likely post a couple of examples once the edit’s complete.
New website launched!
Ido Wedding Films have just launched a brand new website with a host of new content, including 12 sample video clips!
The example clips, which will be added to regularly, feature everything from full highlights to getting ready scenes and first dances, allowing couples to get a better idea of the likely outcome of their film.
Along with the new website, we’re also featured in the current issues of Your Bristol & Somerset Wedding and Your Surrey Wedding. We’re also at the Bath Chronicle Wedding Fayre this Sunday and we’re featured in Wedding Ideas Magazine next month.
We’d love to hear what you think of our new website and example clips, so please feel free to check them out now!

Having trouble planning your wedding with your fiancee? Think again
Robert Spencer, 55, from Perth, had admitted breaching the peace by shouting and swearing during an argument with his fiancee over their wedding finances last December.
Robert was banned from contacting fiancée Jacqueline MacFayden as part of bail conditions. The order prevented him talking to Jacqueline until August – more than two months after they plan to marry.
A sheriff has allowed the groom-to-be to speak to his fiancée again after a court overturned a ban on them communicating after hearing it was making it impossible for the couple to plan their wedding.
So however bad it gets, remember – at least you can actually talk to your fiancé, even though it may seem like a brick wall at times!

Wedding videos: The importance of audio
Audio is important when it comes to any film or video – it makes up 50% of them after all.
As well as the music, score and sound effects, the audio quality of dialogue is hugely important. Fortunately this is always spot on in modern cinema, although unfortunately this isn’t always the case in modern wedding videos, which is what this blog post will aim to highlight!
Below you’ll find some sample footage from Tom and Nicola’s wedding video. The first half of the video shows the clip using just the two directional microphones that are mounted on our cameras. The second half of the video shows the same clip, but this time using our radio microphones as well.
I’m sure you’ll agree the difference is obvious!
Because of this we’d urge everybody looking for a wedding video to check the audio quality of the wedding film company beforehand. That means requesting a recent wedding DVD sample, and not just looking at their wedding video showreel. Also ask them what they use to capture audio, make sure they use radio microphones, and ask how much post-production work they do with the audio to remove hisses or blips.
And remember, don’t be put off by the idea of them! Radio microphones are tiny – we clip them on to the shirt of the officiant and hide them in the flowers on the head table. You won’t even notice their there and the quality they bring is essential.
