Wedding videography is the filming of your wedding day and then the compilation of this onto a DVD (or Blu-ray). It can trace its roots back to the 1980s with use of 8mm and 16mm film, but nowadays is nearly always shot on digital. It has become a very popular feature of a wedding and acts as an extra reminder of the day alonsgide wedding photography.
Why would I want a wedding video?
Having a wedding video created has many advantages. Firstly it's a great addition to a wedding photographer and allows you to relive the day in a completely different way. You'll get the vows, the best mans speech and the laughs (hopefully!) that come with it. Optional extras can offer you trailers with sentimental music that your friends and family can download and watch without getting bored and from the comfort of their own home.How can I watch my wedding video?
Your wedding film will be presented to you on a professional created DVD like any major film and will be playable in any computer or DVD player. Optional extras also allow you to have your wedding day highlights uploaded to your very own website so that you and your friends and family can watch it from wherever they like!How many wedding DVDs will I get?
Both our DocumentaryHD and DirectorHD packages come with three DVDs each. Any additional DVDs you or your friends and family want can be purchased for just £10 for a standard DVD or only £20 for a Blu-Ray Disc.Ido is a wedding videography duo set up by Russell Jones and Adam Millbank. What qualifications do you have?
Russell Jones has a degree in Film and Video (BA Hons) from the International Film School, Wales, as well as college certificates in Photography and Graphic Design. Adam Millbank also has a degree from the International Film School, Wales, in Documentary Film and Television (BA Hons).Ido and its videographers are based in Bristol, England.
Although our base is Bristol, we cover anywhere in the UK including the local cities of Bath, Somerset and Cardiff as well as London and the rest of England. So if you live in and around Bristol but are having your wedding further afield we can still provide you with all our wedding videography services. Depending on the location we may have to charge travel expenses.
What else do you do and have you done?
Although we specialise in wedding videography we also offer any general event filming. In the past we have covered such events as radio station launches and dance festivals. Our main line of past work is that of film. We have both worked on numerous short films, both fictional and documentary. Our work has been used for clients such as the BBC, VisitBristol, Newport City Council, The British Falconer's Club, Bath & NE Somerset Council and XFM Radio.No, you don't have to meet with us. Although we greatly encourage it so that we get to know you better and can meet before the big day, we understand that some people can't or may not want to. In this case communicating by telephone or email are the other options.
What equipment will you use for my wedding video?
We use a wide range of professional broadcast-standard equipment to create your wedding video, well in excess of £10,000. For more information see our equipment page. Your wedding video will be edited on both a Windows and Mac-based system costing over £1,600 each with Sony Vegas 8 Pro and Final Cut Pro non-linear editing systems.Can my wedding video be in high-definition?
Yes! All our wedding videos are shot in full 1080p high-definition, regardless of the package. You can also receive your wedding film on a Blu-Ray disc to either play straight away or just to future-proof your film.How many wedding videographers will be at my wedding day?
Unlike our competition, you will always get two dedicated videographers at your wedding day. This provides flexibility, safety and a greater coverage of the day.What will your wedding videographers be wearing?
Quite simply, we will dress to the occasion. Usually this involves a suit, shirt and tie. Apart from the camera we hope to fit in and be as unobvious as possible. We don't wear polo tshirts or branded clothing like other wedding videographers and photographers.What style will my wedding video be in?
The style your wedding film's in can be however you want. Most clients prefer standard colour and quite a classic approach with a hint of contemporary. However you can choose black and white, fast cuts or whatever your taste buds prefer.How long will my wedding video be?
Your wedding video will be somewhere between 45 minutes and two hours long, depending on how much coverage you've asked us to film. Every film is different and the type of ceremony you're having plays a big part in this.How long will the editing of my wedding film take?
Your wedding film will take somewhere between two and four weeks to edit and compile to a professional DVD. This time span differs based on the package and coverage you've chosen as well as the length of the day.Will we have to wear microphones?
No. We usually place a microphone on the officiant and at the speaking table at the ceremony to record vows and readings, and then hide our micrphones inside the head tables flower arrangement for the speeches. You won't even notice they're there!Can my guests use their own video equipment?
Yes. We know some members of the family (usually uncles) like to use their own equipment and film some of your wedding. We welcome this, though we do ask that we have preference on positions and the right to these - simply so we can capture the best thing possible and give you absolute value for money. We also offer a guest camera extra - for £200 one of your guests will recieve a full high-definition Canon handycam and tapes, the footage from which will be edited alongside our footage or as a special feature on the DVD (for example: Robert's View).We accept payment by cheque, cash or direct bank transfer. A 20% deposit will be required 14 days after booking, followed by the remaining payment a month prior to your wedding date.
